Alex Cruz

Co-founder/Chief Operations Manager

My name is Alex Cruz and I graduated from ASU with a bachelors degree in Political Science in 2017. During my time at ASU, I had the opportunity of being part of an organization that promoted higher education. This allowed me to visit multiple schools across the state and speak to students of all ages about the importance of going to college. While this was very rewarding it was also very eye opening. This led to my current career which is education. I’ve been in education for almost 10 years. I believe that education can lead to success and that all students no matter the background deserve the best quality of education. Making Sense out of Dollars teaches children and young adults about the importance of money and saving for their future. This combined with academics gives students and young adults the necessary skills to move up in life.

Lynn Sell

My background is in retail management as a buyer, a regional sales rep, and a regional manager. I have worked as a board member for social services raising funds for the Chrysalis Organization and I have worked with the community teaching ESL to help adults achieve their goals. I would like to help promote financial literacy to children so that eventually, they will be able to make better decisions as adults.

I am a seasoned professional photographer with 15+ years of experience running a successful wedding and portrait photography business. Throughout my career, I have always prioritized people and the important milestones of their lives. I want to channel my passion into empowering young minds. This is why I chose the join this incredible foundation. As an entrepreneur, I understand the importance of instilling a sense of financial awareness and entrepreneurship in kids from an early age. Our vision is to equip children with the knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions and cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit that will benefit them throughout their lives.

I come from an extensive background in retail. I was a Macy's executive for 20 years helping with trading and developing colleagues to grow and gain valuable experience in the retail industry and life skills. I have spent the last 3 years as a Macy's personal stylist. This position has given me many opportunities to showcase myself using various social media platforms to grow my business. I enjoy helping others and giving them the style advice that grows their confidence and self-potential. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to Making Sense Out Of Dollars.

Jarka Kovarova

I was born in Prague, Czech Republic, and worked in Prague as a dental lab technician and as a secretary. I then worked in Chicago for a Czechoslovak newspaper. I am currently working at Macy's here in Phoenix. I enjoy maintaining a healthy lifestyle, clean eating, exercise, and yoga, while also being a Reiki practitioner. I am passionate about learning new things, traveling, and exploring different cultures.I am very excited to be part of this amazing team: Making Sense out of Dollars!

Tanya Gomez

I recently entered the world of education, teaching 5th-grade students as a full-time job. I am also currently working towards a Bachelor's in Business Management. When you are working so close with children, you tend to realize just how hard it is for a lot of them. Many students come from a household that can't afford much and are barely making it. My wish is for all my students to grow up to be successful, which is why I chose to work with Making Sense out of Dollars, where they will learn financial skills that they can apply throughout their entire lives. Not only will they learn how to sustain themselves but, they will be able to teach others to do the same.
